Some quiz you should take when you are bored

January 10, 2009 at 8:26 am (Uncategorized)

A friend of mine e-mailed this link to me. At first, I thought it was a virus so I hesitated. However, it wasn’t, so I decided to try this out.

This quiz is one of those retarded quizes that we see commonly throughout the internet. However, what grabbed my attention is, how the quiz maker organized this quiz.

First of all, he introduced the quiz by showing a famous quote “the mind is like a parachute, it works the best when it opens up”. It is COMPLETELY irrelevent to the whole quiz.

The quiz is to show individuals about how their daily life is. It is not real but it is just for fun. Dont take this quiz for granted. Trying out this quiz is not recommended since some of y0u reading this article will take this quiz seriously. However, if you have nothing better to do, take this quiz. It is pretty interesting

Muse

January 8, 2009 at 9:21 am (Uncategorized)

I don’t know why but I began to fall in love with this band “Muse”

Muse is formed with three people. Matthew Bellamy is the guitarist, pianist, vocalist, and the song writer. Christopher Wolstenholme is the bassist, and lastly, Dominic Howard, who is the drummer

Muse is famous with it’s unique voice type. Some people criticized it to be too whinny. However, people like me, who loves the muse, think of Matthew’s voice to be full of love and emotion.

Here are the list of my top 3 songs by them:

1. Uno

2. New Born

3. Feeling good

My favorite song by them is Uno. The music video is also beautifully filmed. You will see the reason why it is my favorite song

North and South Korea

January 5, 2009 at 10:31 am (Uncategorized)

Korea is separated into two countries. They used to be united. However, after the 2nd world war, the country was divided into 2. The northern part was controlled by the Soviet Union, while the southern part was controlled by United States. Obviously, communism kicked in to North korea, and Democracy kicked in to South Korea.

Even though, we all came from a same nation, there are numerous things that separates us. Not just physically, but also mentally. We have language barrier, cultural barrier, and also economy barrier.

First of all, we both have different accents. There are some words and idoms that South Koreans are uncapable of comprehending that are used by North Koreans

Second of all, cultural barrier is keep on holding us back. North Koreans do not believe in god. They only believe in their leader Kim Jung Il. They believe that he is the superior human being and treats him like a god. In South Korea however, we have numerous religions. We have Christianity, Buddhism, and other varieties of religions.

Last but not least, North Korea and South Korea has a huge economy differences. North Korea is run by communism. They have no clue about the outside world, and they do not accept the fact that their economy is far behind most of the well developed countries. They have no personal entertainments, unaware of the fact that other countries are living in happiness, while they are living every pointless day without any hope.

Virtual Reality

January 4, 2009 at 9:02 am (Uncategorized)

As we all know, as the technology evolves, so did our interest in the concept of virtual reality. Virtual reality is a cyberworld, where, we roam around, exploring the world that exists only in our minds of an imagination. We are now living in the beginning of the virtual reality. However, is this whole Second Life concept really necessary?

We have all heard of the movie “The Matrix”. The movie is about a world where in the real world, computer took over the human society and uses human’s bio-energy as their energy. In order to do so, they connect human’s brain to a virtual world, which they all believe is the real world. In this world, people can do anything they want. They can fly, do things that are impossible to do in the real world, and their ability to do something seems endless. However, the only sad part of this is, it does not exist in the real world.

We have millions of video games in our world that makes us believe in certain things. For example, people often believe that they are able to drive F1, kill a person, or even fly an airplane after playing the video games. This proves how some people are unable to determine the difference between the virtual world and physical world. This is going to be a problem. Sooner or later, we will start to enjoy the virtual world rather than reality world.

If people start to love the virtual world more than the reality world, then that means our world is going to end. The reason is, people will no longer try to create a better place in a reality world. Instead, they will work hard to make the virtual reality into a better place. Virtual world might be fun to fiddle around. However, when it crosses over the limit, we should know when to stop.

Evolution of Video Games

January 3, 2009 at 9:28 am (Uncategorized)

Ted always amazes me all the time with it’s brilliant guest speakers. This time, David Perry, who is a game designer, made a magnificant speech about the evolution of video games.

From generation to generation, video games changed alot. It became more realistic, educational, and more entertaining. Everyone remembers the old classic ping pong game on their TV. From then on, the gaming industry expanded a lot. In our modern society, gaming became so realistic that the line separating the virtual world from the physical world, became increasingly thin.

There is a game called World of Warcraft. This game is popular to every teenagers, and even the adults. Believe it or not, the average gaming age is 30. The game itself is so addicting that people are willing to pay monthly to play this game. Also, people are also willing to pay an outrageous amount of the real money for the virtual island in the game. This is how the intensity of the gaming industry grew. People want to spend more money on their video game entertainment, rather than spending their money on real life.

Video games became awfully realistic. People will now feel like they can fly an airplane, snowboard, drive F1, take away another person’s life, etc. This is what the video game is doing to the modern people. Some people actually said that they were able to learn how to drive their car because of the video game.

Is this what we really want? Do we really want to live in a virtual society, where things you do doesn’t really happen? Do we want to live in a fake world, where you can be anyone you want and do anything you want to do, rather than living in a real world? If this is what we really want, our lives will be just like the ones in the movie “The Matrix”, where people’s mind roams around the virtual society, not knowing that their life is fake not real.

Rowing

January 2, 2009 at 10:26 am (Uncategorized)

I am currently in Collingwood Rowing team. I used be what people call “noob” to the whole Rowing sports. However, now, Im one of the best rowers in the team.

Rowing is a sport where you trust the guy infront of you, and the guy behind you. You basically have to be all united, and trust every single people on the same boat as you. My position rotates between #2 and #3. Both of them are the most important positions on the boat, because they require a person with a strong muscle. Which is ME of course :P

Rowing is all about leg’s muscle. You push with your leg, and all your arm does is, it anchors the oar to our body. Every power that is needed to drive the boat. However, sometimes, we all need to push ourselves to the limit, not just to let you down, but to not let your team down. Rowing is all about teamwork.

When you row, you push yourself into the limit until you are completely out of energy. While you row, you feel so exhausted that you just want to give up. However, you know that you must endure the pain that you are getting, and the temptation to give up, since you know that all those hard work that you go through will be well worth it at the end.

Sometimes, I feel like my life is like Rowing. As we live, we set our personal goals, and do our best to achieve them, just like in Rowing. You can’t take a shortcut, nor you can slow down. You have to go through your life in even pace. Sometimes as we live, we want to give up. We don’t feel the point of living. However, in our conscience, we all know that when you reach that finish line of your personal goal, you will look back and be proud of yourself.

Now you are probably thinking that Im over exaggerating by comparing my life to rowing. However, we need to learn how we must not give up. After all, even though the sun sets everyday, we all know that sun will re-appear more beautifully than ever.
