Andy Warhol “Uncle Sam”
Andy Warhol (Andrew Warhola) was born in August 6 1928. He was an American painter, filmmaker, and conceptual artist. Also he was best known for his Pop art. One of his art work “Uncle Sam” is also one of his famous pop arts. He became famous worldwide. What was unique about Andy Warhol was that he would pick something that we see commonly everyday and paint a magnificent artwork with it, just like how he made Uncle Sam.
Uncle Sam was painted in 1981. Surprisingly, there was not any war in issue during this period. The reason why he chose Uncle Sam is unknown. However, what I believe was the reason is that he experienced WW2, Korean war, and Vietnam war as he was growing up. He must have seen numerous Uncle Sam posters on the street. That must have been the reason why it inspired him to do this painting.
Unfortunately, his “Uncle Sam” artwork description is not available in the web. I was unable to find the tool and ink he used to produce such magnificent painting. However, what I do know is that he used pastel crayon to make it stand out as a pop artwork. The mood of the painting is very evident. It is very sharp while the pastel crayon makes it smooth. Straight lines were used rather than curved lines and Andy Warhol tried to use less colours as possible in order to emphasize “pop” feeling.
In my own version of “Uncle Sam”, I juxtaposed the painting by changing motto of Uncle Sam (War) into very peaceful person. Also, instead of making Uncle Sam American, I made him into a proud Canadian person. There is a peace sign on his left chest in order to emphasize that he is seeking for peace.
“Anyone Can Play The Guitar”
Well, as most of you know, I know how to play a guitar, and I consider myself to be a decent guitar player. I play numerous instruments, but this instrument is somewhat special. Believe it or not, I learned how to play the guitar by myself. I personally think that the guitar is one of the most easiest instrument in the world. Since I was one of the people who learned guitar by myself, I decided to show you some basic information and some basic stuff that you should know to play the guitar.
Normal standard guitar has 6 strings. In standard tuned guitar, starting from the lowest string, they are E, A, D, G, B, e. Guitar is a fretted instrument, which makes guitar even more easier than other string instruments like cello, which does NOT have any frets. (Fret is the metal strip across the fingerboard of the guitar. Each fret has different notes) Starting from the 1st fret, each fret goes up the semi-tone as it goes up the fret. For example, In Low E string, 0 fret= E, 1st fret= F 2nd fret= F#, 3rd fret= G, etc.
Now here is the hard part. CHORD. There are hundreds and millions of chords in guitar. To memorize them, it would take years and years. However, there are only some chords that you should really know. They are major and minor chords. For these major and minor chords, if you memorize the “barre chord (a chord that requires all the strings to be pressed against the fretboard)” it would be easier to play them. Soon, you will be able to play all the major and minor chords
I believe that guitar is something that everyone should play. First of all, when you play the guitar, it proves that you have the ability to play a musical instrument, and second of all, by playing the guitar, you are able to easily grab people’s attention. Guitar is a very easy instrument so you guys might want to try out
