Trees

The nature, which surrounds us, is full of magnificent surprises. There are trees in our ecosystem that expresses its beauty not just by how it looks, but by what it contributes to our environment. Trees are essential in our nature. It provides shelters, food, and oxygen.

In our nature, trees provide shelters for the animals. Ducks use the hallow trees to protect themselves and their ducklings. Dead trees that fell down on the ground are often re-used as shelters for numerous organisms. Deciduous trees are edible on Northern forest for animals. Birds seek for seeds inside the pinecone of deciduous trees to consume food. Also birds and animals look for insects that are living in the tree as one of their main source for food. In Northern (Tiger) forest, it is able to produce enough oxygen that can provide to our entire earth. It contains a third of all the trees, which allows it to refresh the oxygen. Trees convert Co2 into the oxygen that we need to breathe.

There are two types of trees in our world. One is deciduous and the other one is coniferous. Coniferous trees grow in the arctic, and in the Northern hemisphere, there are numerous deciduous forests. Broad leaf trees grow in Eastern Europe. They trap more lights than trees with needles. Leaf eaters are attracted to these trees. Therefore, carnivorous animals are also attracted to these areas, in order to prey on leaf eating animals. In the Pacific coast of North America, hemlock, Douglas fir, and redwood trees are popular. Their needles can extract moisture in the air.

We see trees all around us. However, it seems like we just walk pass them without acknowledging their contribution to our environment. Trees are essential to our environment. Without trees, the whole ecosystem will fall apart, which will eventually cause the extinction of the entire organism.

We are rowers.

“This is it. All the hard work that we have put into rowing all comes down to this. This is it. Give me everything. Show me everything. Prove to me.” April 24, 2009. 8 army-strong rowers, dressed in blue and yellow shirts, stepped into the bus, with their eyes flaming with ambition.

When we got to horseshoe bay, our ambitious mind slowly died out. We played a game of red ass, and people in the school bus right in front of us started to join us. It was alot of fun.

After about an hour and a half, we arrived at Victoria. Then we drove for another 2 hours and finally got to Brentwood. One thing that I realized after I got to Brentwood is that the school was HUGE! They had 8 tennis courts, a rugby field that is 5 times bigger than our field, 2nd field that was used as a parking lot. There were rowing boats everywhere and rowers were warming their ass up.

While we were waiting, we played soccer, hackey sac, and phrisby gold. It was hellota fun. Also we even decided to flirt with some girls in brentwood XD

The race was delayed for 5 hours due to strong winds and when we did get to race, it was still extremely windy. As a result, they had to commence the race as soon as possible. Everyone in my heat had a false start. The reason was lane 2s boat (the lane right beside our lane) was shifted towards us due to the strong wind. As a result, their boat went straight into the middle of our boat. They had to restart the race. On our 2nd start, things went ok. However, we were really exhausted because we already used up all of our energy on our 1st start. We didn’t do well as we expected.

Brentwood was an awesome experience. If i get a chance to participate in such a competition ever again, I would love to be part of it.
