FUELED BY FRED, KIDS WANT A ZIPIT!
What’s a Zipit, and who the heck is Fred? If you’re a bona fide grown up, chances are you’ve probably never heard of Fred. (Or a Zipit, for that matter). But go ask your kids, they’ll tell you. They might even howl one of Fred’s signature lines, like “That’s so hackin’ cool!”
Fred (real name Lucas Cruikshank) is a slightly awkward 14 year old from small town Nebraska, whose character, a high-pitched, hyperactive six year old “with anger management issues” happens to be one of the biggest sensations ever to hit YouTube. Fred’s (er, Lucas’) self-shot amateurish videos have received over 50 million views - more than Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers.
Recently, this online phenomenon teamed up with a company called Zipit Wireless, makers of a handheld WiFi Messaging device for teens and tweens. Fred can be seen IMing on his Zipit in several of his videos including, “Fred on Valentine’s Day” and “Fred Goes Swimming.” Now Fred has helped this under-the-radar brand become a wanted property with Fred fanatics around the world. “I want Zipit!” “Where can I get a Zipit!” “I luv my Zipit!” shout fans wildly on his comments page. Over half a million Fred followers visited a FredonZipit.com website last month alone, and tens of thousands sent a personalized Fred video message to none-other-than mom and dad, having himself Fred explain to them why they wanted a Zipit.
And if you think that Fred’s YouTube followers reacted negatively to his new spokeskid status, think again. They cheered him on. Careful not to alienate Fred loyalists, Zipit Wireless (through their ad agency WOO Agency), were careful not to sell Fred out, but rather stay true to his original character and formula. And after all, Fred wasn’t pitching another new breakfast cereal — the Zipit is actually a pretty cool device – one ironically parents love as much as kids. The Zipit lets tweenagers IM and text without racking up outrageous texting overage charges. Parents can set texting limits and curfews, and the device also offers built-in protection against messages from strangers.
So now that Fred helped get the message out on this new messaging device kids went crazy for, everything should have been cake, right? Wrong. Problem was, parents initially stumbled over the $149.99 retail price. Parents wrote in to zipitwireless.com, and kids sent messages to Fred’s IM account on his Zipit, asking to reduce the price. Wanting to keep Fred fans happy, Zipit Wireless took the feedback to heart and lowered the price to $49.99, while establishing an affordable monthly service platform that consumers are familiar with. For a flat rate of $9.99 per month, Users get unlimited IM & texting, and there are no hidden fees or overages, ever. Fred even nonchalantly mentions it in one of his videos, “Fred Goes Swimming,” angry that Kevin (his arch 1st grade nemesis) now spent less money on his Zipit than his mom did. Pretty hackin cool.
The Zipit Z2 is sold at zipitwireless.com, Target.com and BestBuy.com, and is available in select Target and Best Buy stores.
Zipit
There are numerous households that struggle and dispute over who is using the computer in 21st century. Parents need computer for their business or other document work. However, teenagers use computer to be part of social networking or live messanger service. Parents could buy their kids a laptop, however it is not affordable. For these situation, product like Zipit is useful.
Zipit is a gadget that allows user to log into AIM, MSN, or Yahoo messanger service account and use live messaging service. It has Wi-fi technology so user is able to connect to the web through wireless internet service or hotspot. Through Zipit, people can listen to music, watch movie, and even listen to internet radio. Surprisingly, Zipit has Linux Technology inside. There is a rumor going on that hackers are looking forward to hack this device just like they did to i-touch.
Personally, I like Zipit idea. Its price is also understandable and its ability is modernaged. However, there are some downside of this gadget. Keyboard of this device is way too small and flicking through multiple conversation will be hard using this small device. Before people buy this device, they should first think about if Zipit is actually better than the PDA or cellphones they are using. I would recommand parents to buy laptops for their children than buying this gadget. This gadget will only distract kids from their daily life.

Samsung S5
Samsung makes 3 MP3s, which are commonly known as “The iPod killer.” or “The iPod exterminator.” Those 3 MP3s are “Samsung S5”, “Samsung T10”, and “Samsung P2”. Personally, I am one of the fans of Samsung’s MP3, because “Samsung,” the company itself, is from
S. Korea, which is where I am from, and I basically love all the products that they make. Among all the MP3s, I am going to write a product review about the “Samsung S5.” Samsung wanted to make an MP3 that is unique, special, and something out of the ordinary. They also wanted people to be able to share music, other than using ear buds because they are for individual use only. They also wanted people to have freedom from earphone wires tangling around the MP3 by making Bluetooth enabled Mp3. The MP3 player that they came up with is called the “Samsung S5”
When I first saw the S5, I was just amazed at how brilliant the idea of this MP3 was. The uniqueness and the sleekness of this MP3 was just unbelievable. The difference between the S5 and other iPods is that the S5 has a built in speaker. You can slide out the speaker from the MP3, just like in the picture below. Another difference is that Bluetooth is enabled on this MP3. This allows the user to use a stereo headset to listen to music, or to use this mp3 as a speaker phone, since the microphone and the speaker are built in. The version of the Bluetooth on this Mp3 is 1.2, which is the older version of 2.0. However, the only difference on the version is that on 1.2, you are only allowed to “pair” up with one stereo headset, while on 2.0, you are able to pair up with 2 stereo headsets. The last difference is that you can listen to the radio without buying an FM tuner, and you can watch movies with speakers.
Even though the S5 might be called an iPod killer, there are still some parts or tools that are unique to only the iPod. First of all, as the new iTouch came out, iPod users are now able to go on the web using Wifi technology and they can download applications for their iPod. Also, they are now able to download songs straight from the web. However, I still believe that Samsung S5 might be able to take the lead in a matter of uniqueness and effectiveness.
